Position Summary:

Estimator must be able to produce detailed estimates in a timely manner and assist in negotiations with insurance adjusters. Must remain current on marketplace developments, insurance adjusting practices, building code changes and estimating technology advances.

Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday (some days may require more than 8 hours; some weeks may require additional workdays). Will vary, depending on the amount of estimate requests coming into the office. May require long hours throughout the year.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Job requires effective oral and written communication skills combined with excellent listening skills. Must be able to meet multiple, conflicting deadlines. Must be self-motivated, able to set and achieve goals independently with minimum supervision. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Xactimate is a plus. Quickbooks is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate all construction deficiencies located at Multi-family properties and determine improvements necessary for code compliance and to meet applicable minimum property standards.
  • Create comprehensive scope of work to repair property issues as requested by management.
  • Work with Senior Estimator to ensure the customer receives an accurate cost estimate of damages.
  • Complete forms necessary for the delivery of a complete bid package and follow customer scope of work accurately.
  • Inspect job sites with client and adjuster to prepare detailed scopes of work and repair estimates in Xactimate in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively and negotiate settlements with insurance adjusters.
  • Facilitate communications between the adjuster and the client.
  • Provide Operations with appropriate scopes of work. Help with hard cost estimating.
  • Work with office staff to ensure they have all the proper documentation during each phase of the bidding process.
  • Assist in providing proper information for invoicing.
  • Knowledgeable of the Building and Construction industry, including but not limited to, materials, methods, and the tools involved in Construction or Repair of all aspects of the Multi-Family industry. Includes understanding Multi-Family construction drawings and specifications.
  • Must be familiar with quantity material and labor take-off means and methods.
  • Use critical thinking and problem solving to recognize construction issues as well as identify solutions to repair the construction deficiencies.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned by lead Estimator or Regional Director of Construction.
